Why you should review your pest control contracts

Here at TPD we’ve been providing high quality pest control services to commercial customers for years.  In that time we’ve witnessed all sorts of unsavoury scenarios and bad service. But as a business owner, how do you know you are getting good service and bang for your buck? For example – Is the service you are receiving the right one and compliant with the latest HSE regulations?  We are going to share a few tips below to make sure your pest control contract is giving you the right service and more importantly, delivering value for money!

Pest control is vital for businesses in food services but it’s also important for manufacturing office blocks and many other businesses.  Pests like rats, mice, cockroaches, ants, flies, bed bugs fleas and Birds can pose a health and safety risk, cause physical damage and of course tarnish your reputation.

Having a Pest control contract in place should (in theory) take away that headache but are you getting good value?  Our tips below will not only help you protect your staff, customers and businesses, but they can save you money.

  • Are you actually getting regular visits? This seems like a silly question, however, we’ve turned up to many a business that pay for a annual Pest control contract but on inspection of their supplier schedule book, we’ve found that they have missed several scheduled checks throughout that year.  Ensure you not only agree regular visits but they are scheduled so you and your supplier know when each visit is due..

  • Are you still seeing pests or evidence of them? A good pest control contract should work like a preventative measure and any pest activity should be very minimal and infrequent.  Unfortunately we’ve seen a number of contracts that aren’t providing the right level of control, whether its using an incorrect product, incorrect volume or not enough coverage the result is the client is still left with a pest problem and facing the potential damages. Check your agreement to ensure you are getting the correct amount of product and if you are still seeing pest activity it’s time to review!

  • Is your pest controller Unresponsive? – With a good Pest control contract service the need to call your pest controller in should be minimal, still if you are often left waiting for days or worse they don’t arrive on site when they say they are going to then its time to review your supplier.  This is sometimes the case with large national Pest control companies whose pest technicians have been given a too busy work schedule or have greater distances to travel. We know pests are a huge inconvenience for businesses and that any problem needs to be dealt with fast. Our team are always on hand to discuss issues with clients and because we value our contract clients we prioritise you in case of emergency call outs.

Is it costing a pretty penny? – We’ve seen far too many customers that were being charged double and sometimes triple what we do. The scary thing is that often the provider was delivering a poor service and falling down on the issues highlighted above. While there will always be a ‘cheaper’ option out there we believe in value. Our contracts are fairly priced and deliver a high quality service.  If you haven’t reviewed your contract recently perhaps now is the time to do so!.

So there you go 4 things to look out for when you are thinking about your pest control contract.
If you want a free review of your contract we’ll provide a full assessment of your current contract, it’s effectiveness and value so you can have full peace of mind.
